The attached seeks comments from States, Tribal Organizations, Veterans Service Organizations and the public, in the Federal Register, on whether National Guard and Reserve members, and their eligible family, should be allowed burial in a VA-funded state cemetery even though they are ineligible for burial in a VA national cemetery. Furthermore, the RFI Notice asks if VA-funded state cemeteries should be allowed to inter these individuals, should the VA ask for conditions to be met. (For example, if allowed, burials would be at the state's expense.) Responses to the RFI will help inform VA's understanding of the issues States and Tribal Organizations face in meeting the burial needs of their National Guard and Reserve populations. The public has until August 30 to provide comments. Submitted comments are publicly accessible on the regulations.gov website.
Thank you very much for your time and thoughtful consideration on this issue.
