From: Emmet, Bronwyn Sent: Thursday, June 24, 2021 9:47 AM Subject: VA Employee COVID leave notice
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) employees who receive the COVID-19 vaccination reduce the risk of acquiring COVID-19 and transmitting the virus to Veterans, customers, and co-workers. Further, accounting for the individual number of VA employees who are vaccinated will allow greater efficiency in the performance of the agency’s mission. The VA is authorizing four hours of administrative leave to VA employees who voluntarily report they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
VA employees who accrue leave will be eligible to receive four hours of administrative leave for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine (i.e., after the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or after a single-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson (J&J)/Janssen)) on or before August 31, 2021. Employees who are unable to be vaccinated for disability or religious reasons will also be granted four hours of administrative leave.
All employees are encouraged to receive the vaccine and provide information to Employee Occupational Health Service to be placed in the Employee Medical Folder. Collecting this information is an important tool for VA in developing and implementing safety and reentry plans with our labor partners.
